Holy Week Services
Join us for Holy Week (March 29 - April 5) as we walk together through the most sacred days of the Christian year, with services every day from Palm Sunday through Easter. Guests are welcome to any or all of the services. Journey with us from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, through the Upper Room, to the foot of the cross, and at last to the breathtaking joy of the empty tomb. Come, draw near to Christ in these holy days; there is a place for you at every step of the way.
Palm Sunday | March 29 at 9:30 AM
We begin Holy Week by waving palm branches and processing into church, remembering Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem and then hearing the dramatic reading of his Passion.
Holy Monday Communion | March 30 at 7:00 PM
A quiet, contemplative communion service as we follow Jesus through the early days of Holy Week, reflecting on his teaching and ministry in Jerusalem.
Holy Tuesday Communion | March 31 at 7:00 PM
We continue our journey through Holy Week with scripture, prayer, and the Lord's Supper, drawing closer to the events of Jesus' final days.
Spy Wednesday Tenebrae | April 1 at 7:00 PM
Tenebrae — Latin for "shadows" — is a haunting ancient service in which candles are gradually extinguished as we hear readings tracing the story of Jesus' betrayal, leaving the church in near darkness.
Maundy Thursday Communion and Foot-washing | April 2 at 7:00 PM
We remember the Last Supper, where Jesus washed his disciples' feet and gave us the gift of Holy Communion. All are welcome to have their feet washed as a sign of Christ's humble, self-giving love (but no one is required). We conclude with the stripping of the altar reminding us of the hopelessness the disciples experienced while Jesus was in the grave.
Way of the Cross | April 3 at Noon
An ancient devotion in which we walk and pray through fourteen stations, each marking a moment on Jesus' journey from his condemnation to his burial.
Good Friday Communion | April 3 at 7:00 PM
The most solemn service of the year, marking the crucifixion and death of our Lord with scripture, prayer, and communion in an atmosphere of reverent grief.
Holy Saturday | April 4 at Noon
A brief, quiet service of waiting and reflection as the church keeps vigil at the tomb, resting in the stillness between the cross and the resurrection.
The Great Easter Vigil | April 4 from 10:00 PM – 12:30 AM
An ancient and dramatic service in the Christian tradition. Beginning in darkness, we light the new fire, hear the sweeping story of God's salvation from creation to resurrection, and erupt into the first joyful "Alleluia!" of Easter near midnight!
Easter Sunday | April 5 at 9:30 AM
A festive celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, filled with joyful hymns, flowers, and the triumphant proclamation: He is risen!
A note on the Triduum:
The Triduum, “The Great Three Days,” were originally considered one service. These consist of (1) Maundy Thursday, (2) Good Friday Communion, and (3) the Great Easter Vigil. While you may only be able to participate in one of the services, the three services were originally considered one liturgical act; building on top of one another and to be received as a whole.
